Kenyans

Posted by jamvi on April 26, 2007

I was having this weird discussion with some dude yesterday. Apparently if we go buy the numbers at the NSE the three biggest companies are a beer maker, a bank and a cement manufacturer. I would make a hazard and throw in the GSM service provider and the question to pose is this. What does all this say about Kenyans? The thing is this Kenyans are large talking (read PHONE) heavy drinkers(read BEER) which drives them to debt(read BANK LOANS) and at the end of this they have to fall on hard surface ( read CEMENT ) in order to come to their senses. DISCLAIMER: The views expressed in this blog do not neccesarily reflect what actually happens. Well what do you think?

Your analysis is right on point. We drink too much and use the phone too much. The beer dons and the likes of Michael Joseph use the cash we give them and they buy cement to better their homes and offices. Just my view.

Right on. Now if you put clande’s (read TRUST cd’s)in the mix, the equation is complete

It is a reflection of what really happens; what is the biggest expense after rent and food? Beer and airtime.
